While NFTA Metro Bus and Rail service Erie and Niagara Counties, there are other bus transit providers in Western New York that are open to all residents.

Rural Niagara Public Transportation’s Bus Routes

Rural Niagara Public Transportation provides bus service to rural areas of Niagara County on four routes that operate Monday through Friday. For more information on the bus routes, schedules, and fares, visit Niagara County’s Rural Niagara Public Transportation webpage or call  (716) 439-7797.

If you’re not directly on a route, you can call ahead to have a bus deviate from its route to pick you up. Buses may deviate up to 3/4 of a mile from their scheduled stops. Call for reservations by the end of regular business hours of the day before the ride is needed at (716) 285-9357.

SERVICES IN WNY AND REGIONAL COUNTIES

The Seneca Transit System (STS) is a public bus service that provides transportation for all area residents on the Allegany and Cattaraugus Territories and surrounding communities of Western New York.

STS strives to provide safe, quality, dependable, economical, and courteous public transportation to Nation members as well as residents and visitors to the Territories, surrounding communities and the general public. Olean Area Transit System (OATS): The OATS provides public transportation service sponsored by the City of Olean for residents of the City and surrounding areas. The Olean Area Transit System (OATS) passengers can download the Passio GO app to their smartphones to view arrival times and bus locations in real-time. This app is a free download from the Google Play or App Store. Please note this app replaces SmartTraxx.

With this technology upgrade, OATS bus riders can access information about individual routes, schedules, and stops. Riders can also set bus arrival alerts and tag favorites, saving time and reducing wait times at bus stops. Additional alerts for route changes or delays serve to keep all riders informed.

Chautauqua Area Regional Transit System (CARTS): CARTS provides public transportation for everyone living, working, or exploring Chautauqua County, NY. Visit the CARTS website for more information or call North County: 716-366-4500; South County: 716-665-6466; or Toll Free: 800-388-6534.

 


Regional Transit Service (RTS): The RTS provides bus service to the City of Rochester and a total of 8 Counties, including Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne and Wyoming. The Discover Niagara Shuttle - Seasonal is FREE to ride. The shuttle service begins in May as a weekend only service, before moving to full 7-day service from Memorial Day weekend through the end of September. It runs Sunday through Thursday from 9AM to 6PM. For Friday and Saturday, the shuttle runs from 9AM to midnight.

DOES THE SHUTTLE CONNECT TO ANY OTHER SHUTTLES/TROLLEYS IN THE AREA?

Yes! It sure does. There are two trolleys listed below (Niagara Falls Scenic Trolley and Metro’s Niagara Falls Trolley) that also stop at some of the Discover Niagara destinations. You can find the trolley icon on the destination pages.


Niagara Falls Scenic Trolley

Getting around Niagara Falls State Park is fun aboard this vintage-style trolley.

This guided Niagara Falls Trolley gives passengers an overview of the park and offers historical anecdotes, fun facts, and tips for checking out the park’s most popular attractions. Visit niagarafallsstatepark.com for hours of operation, cost, and more information.

The Trolleys run on eco-friendly natural gas, are heated in the winter, and air-conditioned in summer to ensure the comfort of all visitors.


 Metro’s Niagara Falls Trolley

This service runs to and from downtown Niagara Falls USA, with stops in Little Italy, Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls, and the Niagara Falls Airport. Guests at participating hotels in Niagara Falls ride FREE all day with a Metro Trolley Day Pass obtained at hotel registration desks. This also includes FREE connections to Metro Bus and Rail.
